Music at Twain

Hello! My name is Miss Rebecca Weisenritter, and I am excited to join the teaching team at Twain this year. If you have questions please email me anytime at RAWeisenritter@cps.edu.

  • The students in K-2 are learning about steady beat, singing, dancing, rhythm, and playing classroom instruments.

  • 3rd and 4th grade students are strengthening their music reading skills by playing classroom instruments while reading music each class.

  • 5th grade students in Specials Groups A and B (the Cadet Band) are beginning their band instruction. STUDENTS IN GROUPS A AND B MUST BRING THEIR BOOK, A PENCIL, AND INSTRUMENT TO EVERY CLASS. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO CALL HOME. They will be given an alternate assignment and will lose points for the day. Their homework each week is to practice for 30 minutes, and a parent must sign this practice log before it is turned in during class for full credit. February’s after school rehearsal is scheduled for February 26 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Specials Groups C and D are learning the modern band instruments in each class. By using Little Kids Rock curriculum materials and instruments, the students play popular songs and choose instruments they enjoy playing each class period when demonstrating good behavior. If a student has their own guitar, they may bring it to school on their music day.
