FAQ's

 

How much is a school lunch?
All students are eligible for breakfast and lunch daily at no cost. Each family must submit a CPS Fee Waiver Form to the office by the end of the first week of school each year.

 

What Time is breakfast served?
Breakfast is served from 8:30-8:40 AM

 

Can my child bring their cell phone to school?
Cell phones are not allowed in school. If you wish your child to have a cell phone for safety as they travel to and from school a Cell Phone Permission Form must be completed and returned to the office. All cell phones must be turned into the classroom teacher or office when students arrive to school for safe keeping during the day. Phones will be returned to students at the end of the school day. Any child in possession of a phone during the school day will have the phone confiscated. Phones that have been confiscated must be picked up in the office by a parent. The school will not be responsible for lost, stolen or damaged phones.

 

How much is an assignment notebook?
Assignment notebooks cost $3.00 and are available in Room 163.

 

What is the earliest time I can drop off my child at school?

You can drop off your child at school no earlier than 8:30 am. Please be aware that there is no supervision before 8:30 a.m. and students are not allowed to enter the building before the 8:30 line up bell rings.


 

When can I purchase a school or gym uniform?

You can purchase a school or gym uniform each day in Room 163 Student Services 8:30 am - 9:00 am and 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm

 

What number should I call if my child will be absent?

If your child will be absent, please call 773-535-2290 and send a note when your child returns to school.
You may leave a message or push 5 to speak with someone in the main office.

 

Is there a lost & found at school?

Yes, the lost & found is located in the main office. 

 

May I bring treats for the class on my child’s birthday or holiday parties?

It is best to check with the teacher first but please note that CPS policy prohibits any homemade treats or goodies.
Non- edible trinkets are preferred whenever possible. Twain participates in the Healthy School initiative. Please help us encourage healthy eating by sending treats that are small and low in sugar for birthdays and celebrations.

 

What is Perfect Attendance?

A student attains perfect attendance when he/she attends school every day and has no late arrivals or early dismissals.
Additionally, arriving after 9:30 am and leaving school before 3:30 pm, will result in a ½ day absence for the student.

 

How do I contact my child's teacher?

Please call the school to make an appointment in advance to be sure that the teacher is available at that time.

 

May I send my child to school with medicine?

We ask that whenever possible parents give their child any necessary medication before or after school, but if your child has a specific need that involves school hours, please notify the teacher and the main office.

 

Can my child use the playground daily?

If the gate is unlocked, the playground is available for preschool children from 9:00 a.m. - 10:20 a.m., for all children after school from 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and on the weekends from 11:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., if someone is available to unlock the gates.
Please be aware that there is no supervision after school hours and children will not be allowed to come into the school for drinks or to use the bathroom.
